Mayor to Trump: "Let's Etch Belfast's Spitting Legacy in Stone" - Satire

Mayor from Belfast, Tennessee asked Trump for ‘National Landmark’ Status

Hailey Welch’s "Hawk Tuah" moment has the Mayor of Belfast, Tennessee, dreaming big—asking Trump for "National Landmark" status. Her rise from factory worker to viral sensation, spawning a $500K industry, has redefined the town’s identity. The Mayor pitches it as a modern American success story, a spit heard round the world. Trump, a fan of spectacle, could be swayed by the tale of small-town grit turned global fame. Belfast envisions tourists and plaques honoring Welch’s legacy, hoping her viral echo secures a permanent mark in history.

Tennessee Announces 'Hawk Tuah Trail' for Enthusiasts

BELFAST, Belfast Tennessee TN - The Tennessee Department of Tourism has officially launched the "Hawk Tuah Trail", a scenic pilgrimage designed for die-hard spit enthusiasts who want to experience the origins of America's greatest viral sensation.

The 15-stop road trip stretches across southern Tennessee, with Belfast as the final, sacred destination.

Visitors will be able to:

  • Take a selfie at the "Hawk Tuah" Welcome Sign
  • Visit the Original Spit Spot™ (where Hailey Welch unknowingly changed history)
  • Compete in the Hawk Tuah Distance Challenge (winner gets a free jug of homemade sweet tea)
  • Meet certified Belfast spit trainers who offer one-on-one coaching for out-of-towners
  • Purchase exclusive Hawk Tuah souvenirs (shirts, mugs, and, of course, monogrammed spittoons)

The Tennessee Tourism Board hopes the trail will bring millions in revenue to Belfast and surrounding areas.

"People used to come to Tennessee for Dollywood or country music," said tourism director Lyle Ray McCutcheon. "Now? They're coming for a girl who spits better than a baseball coach. And we're gonna milk that for all it's worth."

Local businesses are already cashing in-offering "Hawk Tuah"-themed Airbnb stays, guided spit tours, and 'Spit & Grits' breakfast specials at diners.

The first group of tourists, mostly hopeful single men, arrived this week.

"I came looking for love," said 32-year-old Florida resident Derek Carlson. "And also to improve my spitting technique. Both are equally important."
